COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Nursing Assistant Training Program includes theory, lab, and clinical learning experiences. Students will gain theoretical knowledge and basic skills essential to the practice of health care workers who assist nurses in providing person-centered care in a variety of healthcare settings. 

COURSE OUTLINE: 

• Introduction to health care and assistant nursing 

• Rights and responsibilities 

• Documentation 

• Related anatomy and physiology 

• Injury and prevention in the Health Care environment 

• Admission and discharge 

• Specimen collection 

• Legal and ethics issues 

• Basic communication skills to interact with client, family and other health care providers • Alzheimer's and Other Dementias 

• Measuring food and liquid intake and output 

• Care of the resident (Patient assisted skills—feeding, dressing and bathing) 

• Measuring vital signs 

• BLS Training for Healthcare provides (CPR+AED) 

• Nutrition and Fluid Balance 

• Infection control and Isolation 

• Grief, death, and dying. 

• Body mechanics (lifting, moving and transporting residents) 

Additional costs not included in tuition: Fingerprinting, Background check, Drug screen, Blood pressure cuff and stethoscope, thermometer, gait belt, and shoes.
